How To Join
If you are interested in a place in Grove Scout Group, we’d love to hear from you. All new enquiries go via the District Joining List Co-ordinator, who can be contacted via email here. Our Membership Secretary will then be in contact with further details about places, dependent on age and any waiting list. Once a place has been formally offered, you will be asked to complete an acceptance form confirming that your subscription by Standing Order has been set up etc.  For further information on fees, please see the Subscriptions section below.

Grove Scout Group is a non-profit making charity, run by volunteers and as such the only income we have is the subscription fees from our members.  The programme we offer and the maintenance to our Group building is subsidised by our fundraising team of parents and friends of Grove Scout Group.

A large percentage of the subs pays for membership of the Scout Association, which includes the Young People’s insurance, should they have an accident while taking part in organised Scouting activities.

Subscription levels are reviewed from time to time.  Current subscriptions are £9.50 per child per month, on an ongoing basis throughout the year, to be paid by Standing Order.  The Group will advise you in advance if the level of subscriptions needs to be amended.

Payment is due to start from the 1st of the month following any pre-arranged visits.

How to Pay

If you have internet banking, please set up a Standing Order yourself using the account and payment details shown below (NB no form is required):

Account name:  Grove Scout Group

Sort Code:  30-13-50

Account Number:  00081230

Please ensure that you include the name of the child/children as a reference, so that we know who the payment refers to (eg “Joe Bloggs Fees”).  This is particularly important!

If you do not have internet banking, please complete the Standing Order Mandate SOMand pass directly to your bank (not to your Section Leader).  Please ensure that you include the name of the child/children as a reference, so that we know who the payment refers to (eg “Joe Bloggs Fees”).  This is particularly important!
You are responsible for cancelling the Standing Order when your child eventually leaves the Group.

Please note that non-payment of subscriptions will result in exclusion from activities and camps and could ultimately lead to the loss of a place in the Group.

If you have a problem in paying the fees (eg genuine hardship), we may be able to work something out - please contact a Committee Member or your Leader, in confidence, to discuss and make alternative arrangements.

Gift Aid

If you Gift Aid your child’s membership subscription, Grove Scout Group will receive an additional 25p from HM Revenue and Customs for every pound you give.  This means a complete annual subscription of £90 can actually be worth £112.50 to the Group when paid under the Gift Aid scheme.

All you need to do is complete the Gift Aid declaration formSOMand return it to your Section Leader or the Group Treasurer.  To be eligible to sign, you must pay an amount of income or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax we reclaim on the payments.  In addition, higher rate tax payers can claim additional relief via their self assessment tax return.
